The children in the Washington Metropolitan Area must have the opportunity for a successful start in education and sports regardless of age, race, gender, family composition, income or community. In response to this significant disparity, Mark A. Smith founded Pro Power Foundation to provide after school tutoring/college prep., mentoring, injury prevention and health education programs necessary for area youth to have better opportunities for success.
Thanks to the efforts of our board of directors and community partners Pro Power foundation has begun a grassroots effort to build relationships with key stakeholders to pilot our academic, mentoring, health programs, and football camp without formal funding. In order to launch our non-profit and fundraising efforts we are soliciting support from local foundations and corporations to expand our efforts. Pro Power Foundation and our collaborating partners plan to utilize high academic programs, mentoring, organized sports, and health education activities and programs to increase the graduation rates and college admissions among athletes in the Washington Metropolitan Area.
The Pro Power Foundation, based in the Washington Metropolitan Area, is an up and coming organization founded in the belief that with the proper supports and guidance all children can realize their dreams of education and excellence in academics and sports. We concentrate our efforts in three goal areas: to assure that all youth have access to basic educational tools; to provide information and support for families and athletes through mentoring focused on character development, college admissions and graduation, and to reduce the personal, social and economic harm caused by substance abuse; tobacco, alcohol, and illicit drugs. |
We have established relationships with several local schools and plan to continue working with the schools while fostering our mission and goals. We will follow up with these schools to establish academic, mentoring, and health programs. As we expand we plan to increase our involvement with area schools.
